Workshop Manager – Permanent Role – Lerwick

Lerwick Engineering and Fabrication have a Workshop Manager vacancy to join us at our Greenhead base in Lerwick. The role will be to work within a dynamic team across a range of industry sectors.

We offer a complete 24/7 – 365 days a year service to the Oil & Gas, Decommissioning, Marine, Renewable, Utility and many other industries. We have a prime quayside location where our facilities include workshops and storage areas totalling 14,607m2. This includes one of the largest fabrication workshops and also a purpose-built blast and coating facility. This enables us to always guarantee the highest quality of work.

 

Workshop Manager – Responsibilities

  • Liaise with Project Engineers and delegate jobs to Shop Floor employees
  • Management of Shop Floor Employees and Site Teams
  • Troubleshooting / problem solving of work-related issues
  • Monitor and track projects ensuring jobs are completed correctly and within the allocated time
  • Report to Operations Director on a day-to-day basis
  • Ensure individuals are kept informed of their responsibilities by regular instruction and effective communication
  • Provide support on a technical level to the workshop team
  • Regular stock monitoring on consumables such as gas, welding consumables, paint etc.
  • Purchase materials and consumables when required
  • Record keeping
  • Manage and track Health and Safety legislation
  • Keyholder

 

Workshop Manager – The Candidate

  • Be a time-served in welding and fabrication industry with a minimum of 5 years’ experience
  • Must be able to read, understand and work to fabrication drawings and inspect & check fabrication work
  • Have proven leadership and an ability to drive & motivate staff
  • Build strong working relationships within the organisation
  • Have a strong ability to organise the workshop and site teams
  • Maintain good housekeeping in the workshop
  • Be able to manage the consumables
  • Must have a full driving licence
