Voluntary Management Committee Member Vacancy

Do you want to play a role in improving the lives of others in Shetland? Would you like to contribute to tackling many inequalities in our communities, through the provision of safe, affordable accommodation where households can thrive? If the answer is “YES” then volunteering as a Management Committee member with us might be the thing for you.

We currently have a vacancy on our management board and are looking to recruit a voluntary committee member. If you are motivated by a positive desire to work with us in achieving our Vision of ‘Providing homes, supporting communities’, then read on.

We are a Registered Social Landlord and Scottish Charity, with 885 affordable rented homes across the whole of Shetland. We have high tenant satisfaction levels and a track record of strong performance. Our challenges include improving the energy efficiency of our homes, supporting tenants through the cost-of-living crisis and continuing with our strong development programme.

We need new committee members with a range of skills and personal qualities who will strengthen our leadership in achieving the best we can for tenants and other service users.

The Association values diversity and is committed to ensuring equality for all. We recognise the importance of eliminating discrimination, fostering good relations and advancing equality of opportunity. If you share our objectives, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Although Management Committee work is unpaid, we will reimburse out of pocket expenses, including care and travel costs. We also provide comprehensive induction training, as well as supporting ongoing personal development. The main reward, though, is knowing that you are part of a team helping to improve the lives of others.

Our Management Committee meets monthly in Lerwick.
