We are looking for a Security Officer to join us at our client site in the Shetland Islands. Our client is a large oil terminal which is positioned to receive production from both the east and west of Shetland producing areas of Energy.

Although you need to have an SIA licence, we are willing to put the right candidate on a course to obtain the licence.

As a Security Officer you are an integral part of the team and you can make an impact with your skills to protect, deter and respond to any security matters, whilst providing an exceptional customer service experience.

A typical day in the life as a Security Officer:

  • Manage and monitor the Access Control System
  • Produce, issue and control the use of Security Access Passes
  • Control access of all staff, guests, visitors and contractors to the site in compliance with client policy
  • Ensure that all staff, guests, visitors and contractors are dealt with in a polite and customer-focused manner
  • Monitor and respond to all Security Control Room systems including, where appropriate: CCTV, Intruder Alarms, Access Control Systems and other on-site arrangements
  • Carry out regular patrols of the buildings and sites (paying particular heed to the perimeter fenceline and the radiation source pit), both on foot and by vehicle, as appropriate
  • Carry out searches on staff, visitors and contractors in compliance with client policy
  • Control the issue of all keys assigned to Security
  • Maintain the handover book for all shifts and ensure all actions are completed for each shift
  • Ensure the management of lost and found property is conducted regularly and accurately, ensuring all items retained are accounted for and passed to Police if not claimed within 1 month

  • Demonstrate the ability to think and act quickly in emergencies or under pressure
  • Have an ability to deliver succinct and clear verbal and written reports where necessary
  • Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene
  • Demonstrate reliability including the ability to deliver high standards of both punctuality and attendance in order to ensure team effectiveness and availability
  • Able to demonstrate an ability to work as part of a team.
