UHI Shetland is seeking a motivated and conscientious individual to work as part of our Finance Team in the Scalloway campus as a Projects & Finance Development Officer. This person will be responsible for processing current project finances in collaboration with our marine sciences team. They will be tasked with future proofing the sustainability of UHI Shetland by supporting and administering income generation activities for future projects through preparation of business cases, contracts, research grants or other sources. The Projects & Finance Development Officer will be responsible to engage with risk management and audit activities and at times will provide accurate reporting on grant activity to stakeholders.

This is a cross departmental role, the suitable candidate will report to the Finance Head of Section but will be expected to communicate effectively with other departments and manage their day-to-day workload, co-ordinating activities with staff, UHI partners and ensure project delivery is managed effectively, and suitable records are maintained.

The Projects & Finance Development Officer will be educated to SCQF level 9 or equivalent in a Finance or Business area, must be proficient in Microsoft packages.

The specific responsibilities of the post may be adjusted from time to time as necessary. The post holder will be expected to have a flexible approach and be willing to adapt to changes in their role in response to the changing needs of the college.

The post holder will be expected to commit to all required training and development programmes agreed through the annual appraisal process to ensure compliance with SUHI and sectoral standards.

Distant Islands Allowance is currently set at £2,742 which would be in addition to any salary payment (pro Rata).
