Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Workshop Stores Supervisor to join our busy Workshop department at Anderson Base, Lerwick.
The Workshop Stores Supervisor will work closely with customers, parts suppliers and internal departments, ensuring that mechanics are supplied with the parts they need to maintain a steady flow of work so that customer and internal vehicle downtime is minimised.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Sourcing and procurement of heavy and light vehicle parts and consumables, obtaining best value and/or optimal delivery to meet required timescales.
- Determining and controlling the stock and consumables to be held within the Stores to meet ongoing daily requirements, ensuring all items are clearly labelled and identifiable.
- Issuing of parts to mechanics or directly to the public.
- Recording of all stock movements within a computerised work management and stock control system, carrying out regular stock checks and creating monthly reports.
- Providing support to the Admin Supervisor to ensure that jobs are opened within the system and invoicing is completed accurately and quickly for work completed.
- Checking and approving supplier invoices within Visma system.
- Managing the Workshop purchase order system.
- Communicating and working effectively with colleagues within the Workshop department, suppliers and customers in order to deliver work efficiently.
- Liaising with mechanics and suppliers to identify parts and provide regular updates on expected delivery times.
- Ensuring efficiency through the creation of operational procedures.
- Proactive approach to continuous improvement.
- Ensuring Stores are clean and tidy at all times.
- Adhering to company health and safety regulations and standards.
Skills and Requirements
- Full driving licence.
- Basic working knowledge of vehicle mechanics would be beneficial.
- Willingness to learn from colleagues to fill any knowledge gaps.
- Good IT skills and ability to work effectively within several different systems.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
- Ability to work both independently and as a part of a small team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Working knowledge of health and safety practices and principles.
