Graduate Consultant, Voar

Full-time, 12-month contract

Based in Lerwick, Shetland

Salary: £30,000

Start date: Dependent on candidate availability

Closing date for applications: Friday 16th May

Voar’s work spans technical feasibility, infrastructure, supply chain modelling and workforce strategy for the energy sector. We were founded in Shetland, and while we now work across the UK and beyond, our values are still shaped by the place we started.

We are offering a graduate placement based in Lerwick. You will help us improve how we manage the data and information that underpins our projects. That includes supporting the design of practical systems and tools to make our work more effective, and easier to share across the team and with clients.

You will work closely with colleagues across live projects, with plenty of opportunity to shape the role as you go. The role will be adaptable to your background, strengths and interests, so if you have a background in engineering or a science, we will look for opportunities for you to flex your specific expertise.

What you will do

  • Get stuck-in to challenging consultancy briefs, and support our research and data gathering
  • Review and improve how we manage, store and structure project data
  • Design simple, user-friendly systems for better collaboration
  • Support analysis across different types of work

We are not expecting you to know everything on day one. What matters is that you are organised, thoughtful, and keen to figure out how things can work better. If you enjoy solving problems, working with data and in a dynamic and changing project environment, you will fit in well.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A qualification in a relevant subject such as engineering, data analysis, geography, environmental science, or similar
  • A connection to Shetland or a strong interest in being based here
  • A structured approach to thinking and working
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • A genuine interest in energy, sustainability and systems
  • Has graduated within the last 4 years

You will be part of a small, collaborative team and supported throughout the placement. A permanent position may be offered at the end of the placement.

To apply, send a short CV and a short note about why you are interested in the role to Daniel, who you can reach on info@voarenergy.com.
