First Mate
Vessel based in Shetland
Attractive salary and benefits with a 2 week on/off rota

 

We are currently recruiting for a First Mate role for our Utility Vessel – Bagheera. This service vessel provide vital support to our marine salmon farms around Shetland, assisting with a varied range of tasks including mooring work, towage, fish health treatments, net changing, feed supply and distribution

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and practical experience within a marine/aquaculture environment with at least 2 years operational experience of a similar sized vessel. Candidates should be experienced in gridwork and moorings and should be able to demonstrate a commitment to developing a strong safety culture.

 

Essential qualifications

  • A Yacht master Coastal or above – Commercially endorsed
  • STCW 3 day fire fighting and fire prevention (FFFP)
  • STCW approved First Aid

 

Desired qualifications

  • SQA level 3 award in maritime studies; use of radar and electronic chart systems in code vessels
  • AEC1 certification
  • Approved stability course
  • Approved persons lifting course

 

The vessel operates on a 2 week on/off rota system and working times are generally between the hours of 7am & 5pm but this may vary on occasions to suit the needs of the business. The Vessel operates from Mainland Shetland and no accommodation is provided on board.

A full UK driving licence is esssential for this role. You must also be able to achieve and retain an ENG1 medical.
