A full-time permanent vacancy has arisen for Engineer/Boatcrew with relevant experience to work on the Authority’s vessels.

Perference will be given to applicants who hold a minimum of a MCA Engineer Officer Certificate or a MCA Engineer Officer Certificate (Fishing Vessel), or equivalent and reside within 15 minutes of Lerwick Harbour.

While the post is predominately engineering based, you will alos be required to undertake other general deck duties.

It is also desirable for applicants to hold a Boatmaster’s Licence, commercially endorsed RYA/MCA Powerboat Certificate – Level 2 or equvalent.

Experience in skippering vessels would also be advantageous but not essential.

Applicants must be physically fit and capable of passing the MCA Medical Examination for Seafarers (ENG 1).

The permanent post is on a fixed salary basis on a 28-day rota system.
