Highland Fuels have been supplying fuel to homes and businesses around Scotland since 1957. With 11 depots across the country, we provide home heating oil and fuel for the agricultural, commercial and marine sectors. In addition we operate 15 retail forecourts from Orkney to Ayrshire. Alongside our comprehensive range of fuels, including HVO, we provide AdBlue, lubricants, tanks and telemetry, fuel cards and EV chargers. We are also an employee owned trust which means that every employee has a stake in the business.

Depot Supervisor, Lerwick

Full-Time, 8am to 5pm
£30k – £33k depending on experience

 

Main purposes of job

  1. Transportation and maintenance management
  2.  Management of the local team, including incident investigations
  3. Operations planning
  4. Delivery confirmations
  5. Team Toolbox talks
  6. Supporting sales with logistics planning
  7. Supporting other depot teams when required
  8. Liaising with the terminal management and operational team
  9. Validating and authorising timesheets
  10. Driving & Working time regulations
  11. Vehicle inspections
  12. H&S of team, to include safety talks and training
  13. Laise with Training instructor to plan/organise driver training
  14. Customer relations
  15. Community relations
  16. Depot maintenance
  17. Develop risk & CoSHH Assessments

 

Key Tasks

  1. Manage & support an effective operational process, which ensures integrity of customer/Company’s requirements
  2. Manage commercial aspects of a transport operation to meet profit and service/quality targets
  3. Uphold and maintain highest standards of Health & Safety
  4. Allocating and managing staff resources according to changing needs with the ability to provide adequate cover at a planning level
  5. Ensure effective and efficient use of driver and vehicle resources
  6. Ensuring customer requirements are administered in a timely, controlled and recorded manner
  7. Build and develop customer relationships
  8. Analysing data to monitor performance and plan improvements

 

Key Results/Objectives

  1. Promote effective and efficient standards of work, in order to comply with transport legislation, company policy and Health & Safety legislation
  2. Uphold highest standards of H&S, ensure all inductions and regular training is completed and logged
  3. Be proactive in achieving improved fuel efficiency and better MPG
  4. Contribute to a positive safety culture
  5. Support the personal development of all people employed on the Depot
  6. Create an effective working environment building a diverse, well- balanced team
