Through our development programme, you’ll gain hands-on experience across multiple departments: Outreach & Learning, Support Services, Production and Marketing – spending one day a week for six months in each area. The remainder of your time will be dedicated to Customer Services, where you’ll play a key role in delivering excellent customer care within the team.

This role is based at Mareel, but you may be asked to work across our other venues when required.

What does it involve?

You’ll spend 4 days per week working in our Customer Services team, across Front of House and the Cafe Bar. For the remaining 1 day per week, you’ll undertake rotational placements within our other teams for 6 months at a time (totalling 2 years across 4 areas).

The other teams you’ll be a part of include:

  • Outreach & Learning – Work on impactful and inspiring arts education and outreach programmes; Support course delivery, engaging students in the arts; Assist in planning and coordinating youth and wellbeing arts projects; Work with freelancers to support creative sessions.
  • Support Services – Learn sought after skills in administration, finance, logistics and HR; Contract events and freelancers; Update the venue management system; Follow the recruitment process; Analyse timesheets; General email inbox enquiry management; Board Meeting administration.
  • Production – Gain experience of the technical side of arts production; Set up and run live performances, including audio and lighting systems; Handle stage equipment and assist with touring productions; Learn safe handling, circuit testing, soldering and maintenance of production gear.
  • Marketing – Build creative and promotional skills; Social media content and event marketing; Write press releases and produce email newsletters; Update websites and proofread film schedules; Create promotional materials.

What are the details?

  • This is a full-time position (37 hours/week).
  • Salary: £23,088. We are an accredited Real Living Wage employer.
  • This position is a fixed 2-year contract.
  • Varied shift times (days, evenings, weekends).
  • Successful candidates must be available to work Friday and Saturday evenings on rotation.
