Job Title: Collections Assistant – Maritime
Overview: We have an exciting opportunity to support the Trust’s work in protecting, enhancing and promoting Shetland’s maritime heritage as part of the team at Shetland Museum and Archives.

We are seeking a dedicated Collections Assistant – Maritime to contribute to a major new project to revitalise the museum’s historic Boat Shed, thanks to funding from the Coastal Communities Fund. Working as part of a dynamic team, you will play a key role in protecting Shetland’s seafaring legacy for future generations.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working with museum or archival collections management
  • An interest in maritime heritage and collections care
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work methodically through tasks
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to museum work
Location: Based in Lerwick
Job Type: Full-time (37 hours per week), fixed term contract of 12 months
Salary: £27,300 plus Distant Islands Allowance (All roles are currently subject to job evaluation and pay review)
