Job Title: Area Organiser
Part-Time / Temporary – 21 hours per week, fixed-term for 2 years
UNISON, Gutter’s Hut, 7 North Ness, Lerwick, ZE1 0LZ

Salary: £27,159.60 plus £2,019.60 Annual Subsistence
Closing Date: 5.00pm, 26 July 2024
Interview date: Week commencing 12 August 2024

 

UNISON are seeking an Area Organiser to recruit, organise and work on a time-defined project focusing on recruiting, retaining and organising Local Government and Health members in Shetland.

The successful candidate will bring their experience and skills to the role and be able to develop and deliver recruitment and organising initiatives and campaigns for the branch. The Area Organiser will train and develop stewards, undertake case work, advise, support and mentor branch officers and stewards in representation and negotiation.

The post requires excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and face-to-face.

Based in Lerwick with travel throughout Shetland. There may be a requirement to travel to the mainland for training/meetings.

The successful candidate will need to be flexible with their working hours and may be required to work in the evening, early mornings and occasionally at weekends.
