Apprentice Joiner

A position has arisen for an Apprentice Joiner to join us at George Robertson Ltd. This is a great opportunity for a young person to gain a Modern Apprenticeship working for one of Shetland’s leading contractors.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

• You will work under experienced joiners in our GR Kitchens team, also regularly working with the electricians in the GR Contracting team.
• You will gain work experience in first-fix and second-fix joinery works. The bulk of our work is in kitchen installations in domestic and commercial settings; home refurbishments; and solar panel installations including roofing works.

• Aged 16-24 years old (essential for a Modern Apprenticeship)

THE ROLE

• Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 5.00pm
• Competitive apprenticeship rates of pay
• Based from George Robertson Ltd, 3-4 Carlton Place, Lerwick, Shetland, ZE1 0ED

THE APPRENTICESHIP

• Course entry is in September 2025, with the hope you can start working within the business as soon as possible before this to gain valuable experience.
• The apprenticeship typically takes four years to complete
• You will be studying at UHI Shetland
• This Modern Apprenticeship offers the opportunity to achieve an SVQ and PDA in Carpentry and Joinery at SCQF level 6
