Letters / What about the rest of us?

O dear how sad. So our great Shetland Islands Council leader got stuck in Orkney and couldn’t get home (Flights fog bound; SN 16 July 13)

But what about the rest of us poor souls that had to return to Aberdeen on Monday night after flying around Sumburgh for a while unable to land.

Then after getting back we spent at least two hours in the foyer of a hotel trying to get (what Flybe had supposedly booked) rooms for the night.

Next problem: restaurant was closed, so no food (mind you, some of us did manage to just get a take away).

Then up at 5am the next morning to get a couple of bits of toast and a little bit of cereal (no cooked breakfast, mind you) before getting on a bus at 6am and being driven to Dundee where they knew nothing about us, so we had to sit there for several hours before taking off at 11am.

Again after another failed landing attempt we headed to Orkney where, lo and behold, there was Gary Robinson – and he thought he was having a hard time.

But then again, a number of us only had to go down to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for medical reasons so maybe were not classed as being of any importance.
