News / Cash to cut bills
SIX million pounds is being put up to help Scottish householders to insulate their homes, deputy first minister Nicola Sturgeon announced on Monday morning.
As well as paying for free loft and cavity wall insulation, on 1 November the Scottish government is introducing £500 cash back vouchers to contribute towards the cost of new energy efficiency measures people install in their homes.
The measures people install must be recommended through the government’s Energy Performance Certificate or Green Deal assessment.
“Anyone looking for help with their heating bills can contact our Home Energy Scotland Hotline on 0800 512 012 for further assistance,” Sturgeon said.
The £6 million will be paid into the universal home insulation scheme (UHIS) which is administered by local authorities.
Sturgeon also called on the Westminster government to do more to regulate energy prices.
