News / Environmental awards
SHETLAND Amenity Trust is looking for nominations for its annual environmental awards.
Held for the 24th time, the awards recognise projects that demonstrate sustainability, innovation and best practice in the conservation and enhancement of the local environment.
Brian Gregson, chair of the Shetland Environment Group which judges the awards, said: “The group always looks forward to receiving the award applications as they give a real sense of the impressive range of environmental projects undertaken in the isles.
“There may be established local projects, exciting community initiatives, innovative new ideas, individuals who have gone that extra mile or businesses striving to lower their environmental impact.”
Applications form can be requested via e-mail to info@shetlandamenity.org and are also available in paper form from the trust’s offices at Garthspool, Lerwick; phone 01595 694688.
The closing date for award applications is 12 noon, Friday 21September with the awards presented at a ceremony in the Shetland Museum and Archives in November.
