News / Fog cancels BT meeting
A MEETING of the northern isles digital forum has been cancelled due to thick fog at Sumburgh airport.
Director of BT Scotland, Brendan Dick, was due to respond to criticism from islanders fed up with slow and often inconsistent broadband connections.
A spokesman for isles MP Alistair Carmichael, who had organised the meeting, said: “BT have agreed to come up at another time and we are looking at getting an alternative date pinned down as a matter of urgency.”
So far this morning (Thursday) only the Edinburgh and Kirkwall flights were able to take off from Sumburgh.
The 8.20am to Aberdeen was cancelled due to the fact that the morning flight from Aberdeen had to turn back. The mail plane also failed to get in.
The mid-morning arrivals from Aberdeen and Edinburgh are currently delayed.
