News / Police hunt for driver of a blue BMW
POLICE in Shetland are trying to trace the driver of a blue BMW car who failed to stop after veering off the main A970 road at Tingwall and colliding with a fence, on Thursday evening at around 8.30pm.
Acting sergeant David Sweeney said the BMW had been seen dangerously overtaking into the path of an oncoming vehicle before the accident.
He added that the car appeared to have a personalised number plate containing the number 8 in it.
“Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have seen the BMW driving in the area prior to or following the collision,” he said.
Lerwick police station can be contacted on 01595 69 2110.
