News / Pregnant woman woken by drunken men
TWO LITHUANIAN men found themselves in the dock yesterday (Thursday) after a drunken escapade that ended up in the Lerwick bedroom of an unsuspecting young pregnant woman.
Linas Aleksandravicius, aged 27, of 29 Cheyne Crescent, Lerwick, and Nerijos Kalkauskas, aged 28, of 24 King Harald Street, Lerwick, both pled guilty to being in the woman’s flat on 11 July last year without lawful authority.
The pair had denied stealing a wallet and its contents, which was accepted, but they admitted it could have been inferred they intended to steal.
Lerwick Sheriff Court heard that the 20 year old woman had woken up to find Aleksandravicius in her bedroom. She shouted at him and followed him into the lounge where Kalkauskas was standing. Both men left when she shouted at them.
Procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie said: “This was more an act of drunken stupidity rather than any serious attempt involving dishonesty.” He said the woman had been distressed at the time but had put the experience behind her.
Sheriff Graeme Napier fined Aleksandravicius £360 as he had a previous conviction for assault, while sentence was deferred on Kalkauskas for six months to be of good behaviour as he had a clean record.
Thankyou.
