News / Aimee up for national award
A SHETLAND farmer has been nominated for a national award.
Aimee Budge is up for the agricultural student of the year prize at this year’s British Farming Awards.
She graduated with a BA from Scotland’s Rural College in May.
Aimee said she was “really pleased” to be nominated for the award.
She runs Bigton Farm alongside her sister Kirsty, and earlier this year the pair were named ‘farming heroes’ by the BBC Food and Farming Awards – something which Aimee said she is still “overwhelmed” by.
The Budge sisters starting running the farm themselves after their father Bryden died in a tragic accident in 2014.
The winners of the British Farming Awards will be revealed at a ceremony at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham on 18 October.
