News / Creative summer ahead
SHETLAND Arts is set to host a number of events for children this summer as they get a chance to try out dance, film, drama and music.
The series of events, which are supported by the Robertston Trust, will kick off with a summer film course from 16 July to 20 July for people from S1 to age 18.
Filmmaker Liz Musser will hold workshops on horror film production, with attendees shooting and editing a short movie which will be screened for friends and family in Mareel on 20 July.
A creativity camp for P5-P7 will take place from 23 July to 28 July where young people will be able to try out film, drama, dance, music, literature, visual art and crafts.
An event will be held at Mareel on 27 July where the work produced will go on show to friends and family.
Finally, dance tutor Kathryn Spence will return to Shetland again for workshops for secondary pupils between 30 July and 3 August.
People will use their skills to create and edit a dance film and choreograph a piece for a showcase event in Mareel on 3 August.
Shetland Arts creative projects manager Cara McDiarmid said: “We can’t wait for the summer here at Shetland Arts. We’re delighted to bring Kathryn Spence back for more amazing dance and create some fabulous horror films with Liz Musser.
“Creativity camp is always so much fun. It’s so important to allow young people to explore creativity, and I’m very excited to see what our wonderful participants come up with this year!”
Tickets are available now online, over the phone on 01595 745500 or in person at Mareel.
