News / Orcas make a splash in Lerwick Harbour
ANYONE in the right place on Tuesday afternoon was able to catch some great views of killer whales making their way through Lerwick Harbour.
Photographer Ivan Reid, who works for the SIC on the Whalsay ferry, said it was “just by chance I was in the area” when the mammals were passing the Greenhead Base.
“The wind freshened as the whales were passing with a squally shower on the way – this was what was making the spray from the orcas as they were travelling at a good speed heading north through the harbour,” he said.
