News / Lancaster receives consent
SURREY based oil company Hurricane Energy has received development and production consent for its Lancaster field to the west of Shetland.
The company said it was working towards first oil during the first half of 2019 with an initial planned production of 17,000 barrels per day.
Lancaster is estimated to have recoverable reserves of 523 million barrels. Hurricane said it had made two further significant discoveries, Halifax and Lincoln, in the greater Lancaster area.
Chief executive Dr Robert Trice said: “With funding and regulatory approvals in hand, we can now fully focus on delivering the project within the target timeline of first oil in 1H 2019.”
Meanwhile, BP has restarted its Glen Lyon floating production vessel at its Schiehallion field, also to the west of Shetland, after it was shut down following a leak last week.
The company said a valve had been replaced, and following a safety check the production vessel was restarted on Sunday.
