News / Tavish wears it pink again
SHETLAND’S MSP Tavish Scott donned some eye-catching pink clothes at the Scottish Parliament this week to raise awareness of a forthcoming Breast Cancer Now fundraiser.
Scott joined fellow parliamentarians in supporting the 16th year of wear it pink, described as the UK’s “biggest, brightest and pinkest fundraiser”, and is urging constituents to wear pink on Friday 20 October.
Breast Cancer Now’s stated aim is to ensure that by 2050 everyone who develops breast cancer will live. The annual wear it pink effort has raised a total of £30 million towards the lifesaving research.
“Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in Scotland – unfortunately most people know of someone affected by this terrible disease,” Scott said. “Every year around 4,600 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and almost 1,000 people will die of it.”
