News / Lerwick Brewery strikes deal with mainland supermarkets
LERWICK Brewery has secured a deal to supply beer to two supermarkets throughout Scotland.
While the brewery’s beers are already stocked in Shetland’s Co-op branches and Tesco’s Lerwick store, the deal with both Asda and the Co-op is its first mainland supermarket listing.
60° North Shetland lager and Skipper’s Ticket pale ale will be available in 43 Asda stores and up to 120 Co-op stores, meaning a large production increase and a very busy start to 2016 as the brewery seeks to meet the demand.
Head brewer Rhanna Tuberville said the company was delighted t have been chosen as part of the two supermarket chains’ Scottish craft beer range.
“We’re proud to be representing the high quality products Shetland is producing, so the fact our beers are now easily accessible to a large consumer group is fantastic,” she said. “This is a key part of our increased expansion across the Scottish market both on and off trade.”
In addition to its mainland expansion, the brewery’s presence within Shetland is also increasing with 60° North a permanent addition to Busta House’s draught line-up, as well as regularly featuring in bars such as Scalloway Hotel, Fjara, Lerwick Boating Club, the Masonic Lodge and Flint’s.
Assistant brewer Jon Pulley said: “While expanding our customer base throughout Scotland, the UK and further afield is vital to our development, we are still very focused on our home market and love working with local businesses to promote Shetland produce to both tourists and residents alike.”
In addition to its 60° North lager and Skipper’s Ticket pale ale, Lerwick Brewery’s range of products now includes Tushkar Oatmeal Stout, Lerwick IPA and Azure, a light hoppy ale.
