News / Fined for assault
A MAN from Brae who assaulted his former partner after a night out by repeatedly striking her on the head has been fined.
Tautvydas Pauliukonis appeared at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Thursday to plead guilty to the offence that happened at his address on 14 November.
The 22 year old hotel worker admitted pinning the woman against a wall and grabbing her mobile phone to prevent her from calling for help.
Defence agent Chris Dowle said the pair have now moved on with their respective lives, adding that his client understands his conduct was “completely unacceptable”.
Sheriff Philip Mann said today’s society “simply does not condone that kind of behaviour”.
He fined Pauliukonis £500 and gave him a further £150 penalty for failing to attend the court on 1 March.
