News / Spraggan for Shetland

Lucy Spraggan and her guitar in the woods.

SHEFFIELD songstress and X Factor sensation Lucy Spraggan is kicking off the Scottish leg of her UK tour in Shetland next February.

Lerwick’s Mareel will stage a concert by the 24 year old performing solo with her acoustic guitar.

Spraggan hit the headlines three years ago when she was signed by major label Columbia immediately after her hugely successful X Factor audition.

The YouTube video of the audition has been viewed 35 million times since 2012, when Spraggan was the year’s most Googled musician.

Her debut album Join the Club reached the top ten, since when she has enjoyed sell out tours.

Her independently released follow up We Are narrowly missed out on the top 20, despite widespread acclaim.

Mareel joins a long list of prestigious venues where Spraggan has appeared, including the O2 Arena, the Royal Albert Hall and the Manchester Arena.

After her Lerwick performance on 11 February, she moves on to Edinburgh and The Tunnels on the following two nights, where she will be featuring songs from a new EP in the new year.

Tickets for the Mareel concert went on sale on Friday morning at the Shetland Box Office here
