News / Lifeboat guild fundraiser
THE RNLI Lerwick Ladies Lifeboat Guild raised over £2,500 at its annual coffee morning on board the MV Hrossey on Saturday.
More than 360 people boarded the vessel to enjoy teas, coffee and homebakes, along with the opportunity to buy RNLI souvenirs and books.
President Hazel Anderson said the guild was very grateful to everyone who came along and contributed generously to the charity.
She thanked all the helpers, lifeboat crewmen and NorthLink Ferries for their help.
“As the boat arrived into port late, due to weather conditions, the helpers had to work fast to get everything ready on time,” Anderson said. “A special thank you to the crew for their help in getting everything on board so quickly.”
NorthLink services manager Jane Leask said: “We are delighted that the event was so well supported. The charity is very important to us, and has the full commitment of both crew and staff.”
There will be a bric-a-brac sale in the RNLI’s shop on 11 April, and it will reopen on Saturdays during May and June, and on Thursdays and Saturdays in July and August.
Its annual open day will be held on Lerwick’s Victoria Pier on Saturday 13 June, and will include a trip around Bressay on board the Hrossey in the afternoon.
The guild will hold its AGM on Tuesday 5 may at 7pm and the committee says it would welcome a good attendance.
