Transport / All flights cancelled at Sumburgh Airport after ‘telecommunication issues’
SUMBURGH Airport says its airfield is currently closed due to “telecommunication issues”, leading to the cancellation of all flights in and out of Shetland.
It added in a post on social media that the terminal building remains open for passengers.
Loganair said the issues stemmed from “cabling damage affecting communication systems”.
All impacted customers are being contacted directly and are advised not to travel to the airport.
Loganair said that unless your flight is cancelled, no refund will be offered for any operating service.
Sumburgh Airport operator HIAL has been approached for comment.
It comes amid a series of power cuts across Shetland, with some disruption reported in the south end.
The isles have experienced windy weather over the last two nights as ‘Storm Amy’ made its presence felt in Shetland.
