Police / Pair arrested after £20k worth of heroin seized at ferry terminal
TWO people have been arrested after heroin with an estimated street value of £20,000 was recovered at the Lerwick ferry terminal.
Police officers attended the terminal at around 7.30am on Sunday (27 April), acting on intelligence.
A 42-year-old-man and 32-year-old woman were arrested and charged in connection with the recovery. They are expected to appear at Lerwick Sheriff Court later today (Monday).
A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
Detective Inspector Calum Reid said: “Drugs cause misery in our communities and Police Scotland is determined to disrupt the supply of illegal substances and trace those involved.
“Information from the public is absolutely crucial to our work and we urge anyone with knowledge or concerns about drugs activity in their area to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
