Nature / Partial solar eclipse visible from Shetland
SHETLAND enjoyed near perfect conditions to view this morning’s partial solar eclipse.
Local skygazer Austin Tayler said the view of moon moving between the Earth and the sun was spectacular until about 20 minutes from “final contact”, when unfortunately, it clouded over.
Above photo was taken approximately mid eclipse, when roughly half of the sun was covered by the moon.
The next partial solar eclipse visible from the UK will be in August 2026 when up to 90 per cent of the sun will be obscured by the moon.
