Community / James and Theo most popular baby names last year
JAMES and Theo were among the most popular baby names in Shetland last year, according to new data.
Both of the names were used three times each.
National Records of Scotland’s annual data is broken down by council area but only provides the forenames given to three or more babies.
With no girls names on the list for Shetland, this means that no lasses’ names were used more than twice in the isles last year.

Nationally, Noah was the most used boys name in Scotland in 2024. For girls, that title rests with Olivia.

For mothers aged 35 and over in Scotland, the most common names were Finn and Emily.
Other popular names in Scotland last year included Muhammed, Rory, Theo, Isla, Freya and Lily.
