Paid for contentSinging talent wows Mareel crowd on busy day at youth music festival
SHETLAND Youth Music Festival (SYMF) continued today (Tuesday), with a busy day of performances from young musicians travelling all the way from Sandwick, Yell and Unst.
The first session of the day focused on accordions, with both solo and duet vocal sessions taking place in the afternoon.
The audience at Mareel were once again treated to some fantastic renditions from highly talented youngsters, who gave confident performances and delighted the crowds.
The SYMF team would like to say a big thank you to chairperson Sioban McGregor (pictured above), who has championed the festival for over 18 years and worked tirelessly behind the scenes, including on her birthday today. They all wished her a happy birthday.
Tomorrow (Wednesday) morning is the turn of the strings, followed by woodwind players in the afternoon.
Piano performances will take place on Thursday morning. All performances are at Mareel and entry to the daytime sessions are free – all are welcome.
You can buy your tickets for the Young Musician of the Year final tomorrow night and the gala concert on Thursday (20 March) from Mareel or at www.symf.co.uk
