News / Delight for local charities after EnQuest funding boost
EIGHT local charities have received donations from Sullom Voe Terminal owners EnQuest after being nominated by terminal employees.
Charities were put forward to receive money through the terminal’s safety incentive scheme.
EnQuest said awards were made possible through the efforts of staff to achieve 30 perfect days without any recordable injuries, high potential incidents, reportable spills to sea, reportable smoky flares or hydrocarbon leaks and 100 per cent availability.
Shetland Care Attendant Scheme, Shetland Foodbank, CLAN Cancer Support and NHS Endowment Macmillan/Oncology all received £1,000 boosts.
Walls Swimming Pool and Look Good, Feel Better each received £750, Shetland Amateur Athletics Club was given £650, and both Junior Up Helly Aa musicians and Cunningsburgh and Districts Agricultural Society were handed £500.
Other charities also receiving a donation were UK Wild Otter Trust (£250), Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity (£750), Archie Foundation (£750), Glendrick Roost (£250) and University of Edinburgh – Viking Genes Fund (£750).
Shetland’s care centres each received a donation of £250 as well.
