Community / Walls completes fire festival double bill with Seth in the spotlight

The Walls Up Helly Aa squad pose behind their galley.

SETH Jamieson is enjoying his day in the limelight today (Friday) as the guizer jarl of the Waas Up Helly Aa today.

Seth Jamieson is the 2025 guizer jarl.

Jamieson, who is 11, is joined by his junior squad of 12 guizers from the P6 and P7 Happyhansel and Sandness primary schools, who are calling themselves the “Ram Raiders”.

He is portraying Heimdall as the “Watchkeeper of Gods”, who is associated with sheep and rams and could sense the grass and wool grow.

The Ram Raiders are following the decades-long tradition of visiting local schools, shops, the care home and GP surgery today.

The squad are said to be “very excited and looking super” today, with light-up for the procession at 6.30pm tonight.

The Walls hall is sold out for the evening piece of the festivities, but all are welcomed to come along and watch the procession.

Organisers have thanked everyone that has helped in any way, in particular Fred Gibson of Shetland Composites and Andrew Tait for their help with the helmets.

Murray Peterson and Art Machine have been thanked for their help with the shields.
