Transport / Hjaltland conducting additional sea trials following period in dry dock
THE FERRY Hjaltland is conducting sea trials today (Friday) after returning recently to the Northern Isles route from dry dock.
NorthLink said the ferry would be at sea through the day today, before returning to service tonight.
She is due to sail from Lerwick at 5.30pm for Kirkwall and then onto Aberdeen.
NorthLink also said a problem with the bow doors was expected to be resolved before tonight’s sailing.
Passengers had to embark and disembark the vessel via the car deck earlier this week, instead of the passenger walkways as usual.
The ferry operator said a contractor had been working on the bow doors through the week.
The Hjaltland returned to service last weekend following a flood in its pump room last month, which extended its period in dry dock.
The Hrossey is also currently out of service for a period of dry dock.
