News / Knitwear firm stunned after Stranger Things star dons its vest at Brit Awards

KNITWEAR firm Jamieson’s of Shetland were left stunned after one of their designs appeared on the red carpet at the Brit Awards earlier this month.

Actor and musician Joe Keery, best known for playing Steve Harrington in the Netflix hit series Stranger Things, donned a Jamieson’s Fair Isle V-neck vest at the O2 in London.

He was at the Brit Awards after End of Beginning was nominated for International Song of the Year, which he lost out to Chappell Roan’s Good Luck, Babe!

The glitzy ceremony – attended by film stars and musicians such as Jared Leto, Charli XCX and fellow Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown – was also broadcast on ITV.

Jamieson’s of Shetland manager Louise Grains said they were “thrilled to see our product on the red carpet”.

Grains said it was “certainly not something that happens every day”.

The Fair Isle vest that Keery proudly displayed at the ceremony was sourced through Jamieson’s stockists Dicks of Edinburgh, she added, likely by Keery’s stylist.

It is not the first time a garment linked to Shetland wool has been in the music spotlight.

Back in 2017 rapper Lil Uzi Vert wore a jumper featuring the old logo of woolbroker Jamieson and Smith at a gig in the US.

Meanwhile more recently global star Billie Eilish sported a hat at the Grammy Awards which had the word ‘Shetland’ emblazoned on it.

However, the wool used in the cap was “Shetland-type” and not local.
