Transport / Hjaltland out of service until weekend at least
THE HJALTLAND ferry will remain out of service until at least the weekend.
NorthLink confirmed that the ferry, which suffered a flood in its pump room last month while in dry dock, would not return to the Northern Isles route on Wednesday as initially hoped.
The company’s managing director Stuart Garrett said that work on the vessel was “progressing well”, however.
“The timetable has now been updated and customers who will be impacted by these changes will be contacted directly,” he said.
“As before, the M.V. Hrossey continues to operate our passenger service between Aberdeen, Kirkwall and Lerwick, with the M.V. Helliar and Hildasay providing freight services.
“Further updates will be provided as more information is available.”
NorthLink are due to give a presentation at today’s (Tuesday) external transport forum, where councillors will be given the chance to ask questions about the issues with the Hjaltland.
