Transport / Disruption to sailings to continue after Hjaltland incident
DISRUPTION to scheduled NorthLink sailings will continue until at least Wednesday 5 March, the company has said.
It comes after an incident on the Hjaltland saw its pump room flooded while in dry dock late last week. Nobody was harmed.
With the ferry still out of action, and no update given on its return, scheduled sailings for next week have been cancelled.
Serco NorthLink managing director Stuart Garrett said the Hrossey was continuing to provide a passenger service between Aberdeen, Lerwick and Kirkwall.
“We would like to thank customers for their understanding, where their sailings have been impacted,” he said.
“Our customer service team will be in touch with everyone whose travel plans are affected.
“We would like to emphasise that the team is working hard to safely return the vessel to service as soon as possible.”
Further updates will be provided, NorthLink added, as more information becomes available.
