Entertainment / Rising North festival announces first headline act

Callum Beattie.

SCOTTISH singer-songwriter Callum Beattie has been announced as the first headline act for this year’s Rising North music festival.

He will be joined by his band when he headlines the Saturday night of the event at the Clickimin in August.

Beattie is fresh from selling out two nights last year at the Usher Hall in his hometown of Edinburgh, while he also performed three gigs at Glasgow’s iconic Barrowland venue in December.

Rising North said Beattie is best known for hit songs such as Salamander Street, Hearts Stop Beating and Let Me Fall, while his last record Vandals topped the Scottish albums chart.

He previously played in Shetland as support to KT Tunstall, while he also performed a headline gig at Mareel in 2018.

Rising North committee member Anthony Peart said: “We are really excited to welcome Callum Beattie to Rising North in 2025.

“This last year he’s gone from strength to strength on the music scene playing to sold out venues such as The Hydro and Barrowlands in Glasgow and also the Usher Hall in Edinburgh.

“He’s sure to deliver a high energy performance which we think will go down really well with the Shetland public.”

This year’s Rising North festival is scheduled to take place between 14 and 17 August, with information about tickets expected in due course.

The event was held for the first time in 2024, with tickets selling out.
