Weather / Some South Mainland homes lose power as storm continues to affect travel
LOGANAIR has added additional capacity to its Edinburgh-Sumburgh route on Sunday after having to cancel all of its flights to and from Shetland today (Saturday).
The airline said there would be more passenger space on its flight from the capital to Sumburgh tomorrow (Sunday) at 10.15am, with many people either returning home or trying to visit Lerwick for Up Helly Aa on Tuesday.
Additional space will also be available on the Sumburgh-Edinburgh flight at 12.05pm tomorrow.
It comes after flights to and from Sumburgh were cancelled for a second day running today.
However both of NorthLink’s passenger sailings will go ahead as planned tonight, though the Hrossey’s sailing from Aberdeen to Lerwick may be subject to “minor” weather delays.
Storm Éowyn has also resulted in a small number of homes in the South Mainland losing power this morning, according to SSEN.
Around 17 homes in Dunrossness and Quendale are thought to have lost power just before 9am.
SSEN said it was aiming to restore power by 10pm tonight, and that it was “unsafe” for its engineers to assess the damage to the power network at this time.
“The moment it’s safe to do so, our engineers will be on the ground fixing the problem,” SSEN added.
