Marine / Norwegian trawler fined after detainment
A NORWEGIAN trawler that was detained in Lerwick harbour on Thursday has been fined and released.
The Talbor, a pelagic vessel, was escorted into Lerwick in the early hours of Thursday morning by Scottish Government marine protection vessel Hirta.
It was released at around 1.30pm Thursday afternoon, and has since returned to Norway.
A Scottish Government spokesperson confirmed it was detained for “suspected fisheries offences”, and was issued with a fine.
“This was paid and the vessel was authorised to depart,” it said.
“No further action will be taken.”
No indication was given as to how much the fine was, or what it was for, however Marine Scotland can issue fixed penalty notices in lieu of reporting cases to the Crown prosecution service.
