Weather / NorthLink warns of possible disruption from Friday to Up Helly Aa day
NORTHLINK has warned of the possibility of disruption to its services in the lead-up to Lerwick Up-Helly-Aa next week.
The ferry operator said there could be disruption from Friday to next Tuesday, which is Lerwick Up Helly Aa day.
It comes as the Met Office predicts gusts possibly surpassing 80mph will hit the isles over the weekend.
No yellow weather warning is yet in place for Shetland, but the Met Office is warning that very high winds will likely affect the isles from Friday morning until late on Saturday.
NorthLink will update its schedule as forecasts change.
Loganair is also offering passengers flying to and from Sumburgh the chance to change their flights without charge on Friday and Saturday.
Passengers can choose to re-book on to an alternative flight which is up to seven days from their original travel date.
