SHETLANDER Spencer Moreland will get the chance to test himself against one of Scotland’s biggest football clubs under the TV lights tonight (Friday).

Moreland, who plays for Brechin City, could take to the Glebe Park pitch to face eight-time Scottish Cup winners Heart of Midlothian in the competition’s fourth round this evening.

The game has been picked for live broadcasting too, with BBC Scotland’s coverage of Brechin v Hearts starting at 7.30pm.

If selected, Moreland could go up against the likes of Craig Gordon – a three-time winner of the cup with Celtic and Hearts – and striker Lawrence Shankland, Hearts’ player of the year for the past two seasons.

A sold-out crowd of over 4,000 is expected at Glebe Park, with a place in the last 16 of the cup up for grabs.

Despite finishing third in the Scottish Premiership last season Hearts have struggled for form this year, and currently languish second bottom of the league.

However the Jambos have picked up seven points from nine in their first three games of 2025, and have yet to concede a goal this year.

Brechin City are flying high at the summit of the Highland League and will fancy their chances against their illustrious opposition, having lost just one league game all season.

The club narrowly overcame Huntly 3-2 in the second round, before seeing off Cowdenbeath 4-1 after extra-time to set up a mouth-watering clash with Hearts.

Moreland, who played for Lerwick Rangers before joining the youth ranks at St Johnstone, scored a goal of the round contender for Brechin in the third round.
