Business / The Lounge reopens

LERWICK town centre pub The Lounge has reopened its doors after being shut for the last few months.

During this time the pub changed hands, with the Grand Hotel’s Harvey Richmond now at the helm.

The Lounge, which had been on the market for more than a year, was temporarily closed in October amid staff shortages.

However, the pub reopened last Wednesday.

The bar, on Mounthooly Street, is well known as a host of traditional music sessions.

The news was welcomed by Living Lerwick manager Emma Miller.

She said it was “great to see an iconic Lerwick pub back open again, and in time for Up Helly Aa so hopefully there will be a chance for local folk and visitors to get in and enjoy a tune or two and raise a glass”.
