Energy / Replacement turbine blade to be delivered to Viking site

The damaged Viking blade.

A REPLACEMENT turbine blade for one damaged at the Viking wind farm last year will be delivered to the site tomorrow (Friday).

SSE Renewables said the blade had arrived at Lerwick Harbour and would be escorted to the wind farm site by specialist contractors and police.

It comes after a blade at the Viking wind farm became damaged in October, with the debris removed in December.

SSE said the replacement would travel on the A970 road and follow the same delivery route as during construction.

“Every effort is being made to avoid any significant delays to motorists while the delivery takes place under the supervision of police and our specialist team,” the energy giant said.

“We would like to thank the local community in advance for their patience while this takes place.

“We would encourage anyone that has any questions or encounters any issues on the day to please contact us directly at VikingWindfarm@sse.com.”
