LOGANAIR is to join the Avios network in a move it says will “significantly enhance customer benefits”.
It becomes the seventh airline to become part of Avios rewards scheme, along with British Airways, Qatar Airways and Aer Lingus.
Loganair said the transition will be automatic for its existing Clan Loganair members, and would “bring a range of rewards and opportunities” for loyalty programme members.
It added it would reinforce its strong relationship with airlines like British Airways, particularly regarding its existing codeshare agreement for flights to cities like London.
Members from both Clan Loganair and the British Airways Executive Club will now be able to combine their Avios balances and redeem Avios on their respective networks.
Loganair chief commercial officer Luke Lovegrove said they were “excited to bring these changes” to its passengers this year and were looking forward to welcoming Avios members onboard.
THE SHETLAND Times newspaper is advertising for a new editor.
Current editor Alistair Munro has been at the paper since March 2021, when he replaced the outgoing Adam Civico.
However he is set to leave in the coming months.
The Shetland Times has published an advert online searching for a new editor, with a salary of between £42-43,000 offered.
A closing date of 3 February has been set for what has been described as a “demanding and rewarding” role.
MAREEL visitors are being invited to engage with a project aimed at starting a wider conversation about arts and culture in the isles.
The #EvenHereEvenNow project celebrates and supports the creative voices of artists living and working in island communities.
Through a series of events, workshops and discussions it shines a spotlight on the challenges and opportunities faced by island-based practitioners.
Written by artists from Shetland, Orkney and the Western Isles, the manifesto calls for policy makers and stakeholders to make change.

A foyer installation will be displayed in Mareel until 26 January, showcasing the project’s manifesto and inviting comments, feedback and ideas on the campaign that aims to empower and amplify the voices of island-based artists.
ACCLAIMED guitarist and singer-songwriter John Smith is set to play a show at Mareel next week.
Hailing from the south of England, Smith has toured Britain, Europe and America extensively both as a solo artist and with acts including John Martyn, David Gray, Gil-Scott Heron and Jools Holland.
He will perform with support from local singer-songwriter Keirynn Topp on Friday 17 January, on the eve of a major headline show at Celtic Connections in Glasgow.
Last year saw the release of Smith’s most recent full-length solo album The World Turns, and his debut Shetland performance will showcase material from that record.
He will also reach into a back catalogue that has seen him rack up over 10 million Spotify streams.
Influenced as much by Americana sounds as by the folk music of his native country, he has also toured and collaborated with countless musicians likely to be familiar to roots music lovers in Shetland including Sarah Jarosz, Kris Drever, Jerry Douglas, Rodney Crowell and Cahalen Morrison.
Other artists Smith has worked with include Jackson Browne, Jarvis Cocker, Richard Hawley, Milk Carton Kids and Iron and Wine.
Neil Riddell of local promoters Ragged Wood said: “We are delighted to be starting off 2025 by bringing John to Shetland for the first time, and very grateful to Shetland Arts for their support in making the show happen.
“He’s a remarkable guitarist, singer and songwriter – one of that rare breed of musicians who seems to be able to do all three things equally well – and we’re sure he’ll go down a storm.”
