FIRE AND coastguard crews were called to ensure the safe landing of a plane arriving at Sumburgh Airport this morning (Thursday)
Three fire appliances and a coastguard team were sent to the scene at around 9am, with the plane landing safely at 9.19am.
Fire crews from Sandwick, Lerwick and Sumburgh were called, but only Sumburgh were required to attend.
A spokesperson for Highlands and Islands Airports Limited (HIAL) said: “We can confirm that an emergency was declared by an inbound aircraft on approach into Sumburgh Airport this morning.
“The aircraft landed safely, and emergency response procedures were stood down.”
Loganair said the call was precautionary, and all the passengers onboard disembarked as normal.
