Transport / Numerous cars off the road as police deal with snowy accidents
EIGHT road accidents have been reported to the police since New Year, with snow and ice continuing to cause disruption to drivers.
Chief inspector Chris Sewell, area commander for Shetland, said all the accidents reported over the last week had been minor.
It comes after a number nine service bus left the road near Tumblin on the West Mainland early on Wednesday morning.
Several other cars were reported to be off the road this morning (Wednesday), with the Met Office issuing a new yellow weather warning for snow and ice until midnight on Thursday.
Sewell urged anyone having to drive to remain vigilant and to drive to the conditions.
“Conditions on the roads are likely to remain challenging due to the adverse weather we are experiencing,” he said.
“I would encourage drivers to visit the Police Scotland website for further advice on winter driving.”
