News / Emergency response at Sumburgh Airport for helicopter landing
EMERGENCY services were called to Sumburgh Airport to assist with a helicopter landing from Aberdeen this morning (Monday).
Fire crews from Sumburgh, Sandwick and Lerwick were called to the scene at around 9am, with police and ambulances also in attendance.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said they were called because it was thought the landing could be “potentially tricky”.
However it landed safely at Sumburgh and fire crews were stood down at 9.47am.
Police Scotland and Highlands and Islands Airports Limited (Hial), which owns Sumburgh Airport, have been approached for comment.
